2023 Lobster Fest-To-Go

October 27, 2023: This year's annual Lobster Fest-To-Go was a huge success, with 900 lobsters sold. The event benefited three organizations; Micah’s Place, The Coalition for the Homeless and Grace and Gratitude. This annual festival keeps growing thanks to the dedicated team and generous sponsors. Thank you to our lobster tail sponsors: Compass Group, First Federal Bank, Florida Public Utilities, and the News Leader.
Shrimp Gone Wild - 2023 Shrimp Festival

Rotarians of the Rotary Club of Amelia Island were busy on the first weekend of May. The three Rotary Clubs of Nassau County participated in the parade, May 4th, and May 5 and 6 Rotarians were busy helping sell Shrimp Festival T-Shirts.
16th Annual Installation of Officers + Directors

Thank you to those who served as Board Members and Committee Chairs for the past Rotary Year 2022/2023. A new board and committee chairs were installed at this fun installation dinner which was held at the Fernandina Golf Club.
Rise Against Hunger 2023

Once again the Rotarians from all three local clubs and the community came together to help end hunger in the world Saturday, February 4th 2023. Volunteers packed 40,000 meals in about two hours.
The Great Gift Exchange mini FUNdraiser

The second annual holiday gift exchange (or gift stealing as occurred frequently) was a another huge success. A big THANK YOU goes to Dottie Fortwengler and Roy Truitt for organizing this event on our last meeting before the Holidays. (12/16/2022).
Helping Hands at the 9th Annual Empty Bowls Event.

It is a tradition of this Rotary Club to be an active part of the annual Empty Bowls, a Barnabas Event. The 9th annual Empty Bowls Event took place November 18th, 2022 at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island. Over 700 guest attended and close to 100 volunteers helped make this an amazing success.
15th Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise

November 12, 2022 members of the Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise came together to celebrate the club's 15th anniversary. This marks also the third time this club was a 100% Paul Harris Club. Special Guests were District Governor Jeff Michelman, DG Nominee Mickey Ulmer.
2022 Lobster Fest-To-Go

The third annual Lobster Fest-To-Go was another success. On Friday, October 28, 2022, just before the Georgia-Florida game Sunrisers cooked over 295 lobsters. The rest of the 570 lobsters were picked-up live.
2022 Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival

Thursday, April 28, 2022, members of all three Rotary clubs of Nassau County joined and walked in the 2022 Shrimp Festival parade. This sea of blue attracted a lot of attention in the community. From Friday, April 29 to Sunday May 1, Rotarians were busy helping to sell Festival T-shirts.

The last meeting of 2021 was a blast hosted by Mocama Beer Company. This great Gift Exchange was also a mini fundraiser organized by Jodi and Larry. Thank you for doing this, a job well done! Happy 2022 to all.
2021 Lobster Fest-To-Go

The second annual Lobster Fest-To-Go, November 19, 2021, was another success. 720 Lobsters were flown in from Maine and the proceeds benefitted FOAR FROM HOME and local not-for-profit organizations.
14th Annual Installation of Officers and Directors

June 25, 2021 was the date of the installation of the 2021/2022 Officers and Directors of the Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise. The celebration took place at the Fernandina Beach Golf Club followed by a social in the evening at Mocana.
Inaugural 2020 Lobster Fest To Go

November 6, 2020, over 650 live lobsters were flown in directly from Main for our Lobster Fest To Go event. The recipient of the proceeds was the Meal Pack program of Barnabas which provides nourishment to students enrolled in the Nassau County, FL School system's Families in Transition Program.

What a year this was. Under the leadership of now past president Jody Henson this club achieved amazing tasks. Even the Coronavirus outbreak did not stop this club.
2nd Annual Potluck at the Newtons

It is October 26 (which explains the Mummys...) and the Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise came together for the second annual BBQ and Fellowship party at the Newtons. Thank you Katie and Brian for opening your wonderful home to the club.
Rotary Club of Amelia Island at the 2020 Rise Against Hunger Event

Members of the Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise gathered with over 300 volunteers at the Atlantic Recreation Center to pack meals for “Rise Against Hunger,” an international relief organization that “distributes food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable, mobilizing the necessary resources to end hunger by 2030.”
12th Annual Installation of Officers & Directors

The Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise celebrated the completion of another successful Rotary year and installed the incoming Board of Directors for the 2019-2020 year. The festivities took place June 21, 2019 at Burns Hall.
7th Annual Wine & Food Tasting

The recipients of the 2019 Wine & Food Tasting Gala were Barnabas, Nassau Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Friends of Fernandina Aviation. This party for a good cause was another huge success.

A record number of volunteers from the Rotary Club Amelia Island Sunrise, Rotary Club of Fernandina Beach, the Rotary Satellite Club of Greater Nassau plus other local churches and organizations showed up for this effort.
Empty Bowls 2018

Members of the Rotary Club of Amelia Island were very active at this signature Barnabas event. They painted bowl prior to the main event and actively participated at the luncheon November 9, 2018.
BBQ Social at the Newton's

Everyone was invited at Katie's house for this BBQ Social and lots of fellowship. Families and prospective members were also invited to this fun event. Thank you Katie for doing this.
2018/2019 Installation of Officers and Directors

June 15, 2018 the Rotary Club of Amelia Island held its 11th annual installation of officers and directors. We are looking forward to yet another exciting year under President Mickey Ulmer and his leadership team.
The play dome at Egan's Creek Park is officially open

May 18, 2018 was the opening and dedication of the playground structure at Egan’s Creek Park. This project was funded in 2017 by our club with proceeds of the Wine & Food Tasting.
Making a Difference by Planting Trees

Our club made a difference by planting 4 live oaks and 26 crape myrtles at the Elm Street park. Just in time for Earth Day which is April 22, 2018.
2018 Wine & Food Tasting Gala

The annual Wine & Food Tasting Gala is the signature fundraising event for the Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise. This year we have chosen 3 organizations to be the recipients of the proceeds. The Boys & Girls Clubs, FOFA - Friends of Fernandina Aviation and the Nassau County Council on Aging.
The annual bowls painting party to benefit the 4th annual Empty Bowls Luncheon

Barnabas is hosting the 4th Empty Bowls Luncheon on November 17th at the Atlantic Rec Center to raise funds to combat hunger and crisis in Nassau County, and they need bowls for the luncheon! The handcrafted bowls that are being painted will be offered to those who attend the luncheon.

June 29 the new board of the Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise took the helm. Congratulation to the 2017/2018 Rotary year club president Larry Oglivie and thank you for a great year to the outgoing President Stanley Fishburn.
Golf and Dinner Event at the Golf Club at North Hampton

Club members and guests enjoyed another social dinner at a 2017 wine event sponsor restaurant. On May 9th, 32 members and guests met at the North Hampton Golf Club for an excellent dinner. The Fernandina Beach Rotary Club was invited along with the European American Business Club. As an added feature, we had a guest speaker thanks to Dan and Regan Westra who invited Frank Jaklic, District Governor nominee 2018-19, from the club in North Carolina they were affiliated with before moving here.
At the 2017 Shrimp Festival

Friday, May 5th from 5 pm – 11pm several Sunrisers reported to selling Shrimp Festival Merchandise at the Fernandina Beach Waterfront location. The sales continued the next day at two locations, one at the Waterfront and the other at 8th and Center Street starting at 8 am and ending 7 pm. It was a lot of work but the Rotarians worked hard on selling T-shirts, Hats, Shirts, Tank tops, tumblers, posters and so much more. Thank you Mark Cutshaw for organizing our shifts.
District Assembly 2017

DGE Brent Coates and District Trainer Art Shuster organized a record breaking District Assembly April 29th in St. Augustine, FL. Over 300 Rotarians attended the leadership training event. Several members of our Club were part of the energy in the general sessions, as well as the break-outs.

April 22, 2017 was a busy day for the volunteers of the Rotary Club Amelia Island Sunrise. It started with helping at the annual Katie Ride & Walk and continued adding hands with the final touches of the 8-Flags Playscapes Park at Egans Creek.

The 801 Kitchen and Bar was one of the many restaurants that were part of the 2017 International Wine and Food Tasting. Club members met there March 21 to say thanks.
