The Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise recognizes the diverse professional and personal contributions of its members. The classifications listed below represent the opportunities available for you to join and make a difference in our community and beyond. These classifications help ensure a variety of skills, experiences, and perspectives within our club, enhancing our ability to serve as "People of Action."

Membership Classifications 

 

ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP

Once elected to membership in the club, Active Members are:

  • Expected to regularly attend the meetings of this club or, if unable, to attend the meetings or other organized events of other Rotary Clubs
  • Encouraged to participate in the community action projects and activities scheduled by the club
  • Encouraged to support the club’s major fundraising project committee with time, funding, or both
  • Expected to be a member of one club committee
  • Required to pay a one-time admission fee of $100
  • Required to pay membership dues as determined by the Board of Directors and billed on a quarterly basis. Such dues will include District and International obligations, club administration, and a weekly meeting meals 
  • Requested to contribute to the Rotary Foundation on an annual basis

Active members in good standing, as determined by the Board of Directors, have full voting rights in club decisions, and may hold any leadership position (elected or appointed) in the club. 

 

ACTIVE COMMUNITY MEMBERSHIP

Extended to individuals who would otherwise qualify for active membership, but who, due to career status (business start-up, etc.), cannot afford all current dues or attendance obligations. Community Members will:

  • Attend at least three (3) meetings or one (1) club social per quarter
  • Participate in at least one (1) Club service project or accumulate at least five (5) hours of community service per quarter and report the number and nature of hours of service to the Club Secretary at the end of each quarter. 
  • Pay only a $25 admission fee
  • Pay only District and Rotary International (RI) dues and subscription on a quarterly basis
  • Pay-as-you-go rate for meals and socials.
  • Make at least one quarterly contribution to the RI Foundation
  • Not eligible to hold Officer positions, but otherwise are considered active members of the club

Community Members will enjoy the same status and voting rights as active members, but may not hold an Officer position in the club.

All or part of an Associate Member’s financial obligations to the club may be paid by the sponsoring Active Member as part of sponsorship. The number of members who may hold this membership is determined by the Board.

 

ACTIVE PARTNER/SPOUSE MEMBERSHIP

Extended to partners/spouses of active members who would otherwise qualify for active membership on their own. Partner/Spouse Members will:

  • Attend at least one weekly club meeting per quarter
  • Participate in one community action project/activity per quarter
  • Be an active member of one club committee
  • Pay only a $25 admission fee
  • Pay only District and Rotary International (RI) dues on a quarterly basis (no subscription)
  • Pay only for food and social activities that are attended
  • Make the standard quarterly contribution to the RI Foundation
  • Not eligible to hold Officer positions, but otherwise are considered active members of the club

The number of members who may hold this membership id determined by the Board.

 

ACTIVE SENIOR MEMBERS

Active Senior Members are active members who have been loyal and engaged Rotarians and now, in their later years, wish to remain active with the Club while taking into account travel, health, financial and other concerns that may limit their participation. This person would have participated as a Club leader or active project volunteer, as well as a consistent supporter of The Rotary Foundation. 

Requirements:

  • Assessed for three (3) meals per quarter in dues at current member meal rate.
  • Pay-as-you-go rate for additional meals and socials.
  • Pay all RI, District and Club dues quarterly.
  • Not eligible to hold Officer or Director positions.
  • Eligible to organize and lead club projects.

Qualifications:

  • Age-plus-years in Rotary must be at least 70.
  • Has been active member of Rotary at least five years.
  • Continue to be active in club activities to include at least one (1) meeting or club function per month.
  • Has been active participant in at least three (3) club projects.
  • Is Paul Harris Fellow; or has sponsored at least one (1) new club member; or has initiated at least one new club project during Rotary career

 

HONORARY MEMBERSHIP

Honorary Members are individuals who have distinguished themselves by meritorious service in the furtherance of Rotary ideals and those persons considered friends of Rotary for their permanent support of Rotary. They may be proposed for honorary membership in the club. The term of such membership shall be as determined by the Board. Persons may hold Honorary Membership in more than one club.

Once selected for membership as defined in the club By-Laws, Honorary Members are:

  • Invited to attend the meetings and other organized events of this club, and activities of other Rotary clubs, at their own expense
  • Encouraged to participate in the community action projects and activities scheduled by the club
  • Required to pay no admission fee or dues

Honorary members have no voting rights in club decisions, and may not hold any leadership position (elected or appointed) in the club. Honorary memberships are reviewed and re-approved by the Board of Directors on an annual basis.
